Youngstown Ends Road Skid To AdvanceMarch 4, 2003
GREEN BAY, Wis. - Marlon Williamson scored 22 points to help Youngstown State snap a 29-game road losing streak with a 65-61 win over UW-Green Bay Tuesday in a Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship first round game at the Resch Center. The seventh-seeded Penguins (9-18) also got 16 points from Doug Underwood and 10 points from Bill Mallernee in winning a Horizon League post-season game for the first-time ever. Youngstown State will face UIC Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in a second-round contest at the U.S. Cellular Arena. Greg Babcock scored 19 points and Mike King added 17 points for the sixth- seeded Phoenix (10-20), who shot just 31.5 percent from the field.
The game included an amazing 46 offensive rebounds, including 27 by Youngstown
State.
