Paulsen, Franklin Earn Accolades From Inside Wisconsin Sports

Both players collect spots on all-state team

March 5, 2008

MILWAUKEE - Two University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's basketball players received additional recognition when Inside Wisconsin Sports released its all-state teams this week.

The monthly magazine selected senior Paige Paulsen for its first team while placing junior Ricky Franklin on the third team.

Paulsen, who earned a spot on the All-Horizon League Second Team earlier this week, averaged 13.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season. He converted 73 three-point field goals while reaching double figures 20 times. His best efforts included a 27-point outing against South Dakota State and a 26-point night at Wyoming. Paulsen entered the postseason ranked 12th in the league in scoring while sitting eighth in rebounding.

Franklin finished his second season as a Panther averaging 9.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per contest. He reached double figures in scoring 13 times this season, including a string of four-straight double figure efforts to end the year. His best outings included a 24-point night against Wright State and an 18-point effort in a win over Cleveland State.

UWM saw its season come to a close Tuesday night with a 57-51 loss to Loyola in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament. The Panthers finished the game with just eight healthy players, but will return six of those players next season. Injured sophomore Kaylan Anderson and redshirt freshman Brad Carroll also return.
