Cole Caps Career With Personal-Best Triple Jump5/31/2008 - Senior Darren Cole leapt a personal-best 50-3 1/4 in representing the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's track and field team on the final day of the NCAA Regional Saturday at the University of Arkansas. In his final collegiate meet, the six-time league triple jump champion surpassed his personal best in the event and placed 12th. Junior Holly Nearman broke a school record in the 5000m and scored one point with an eighth-place finish in the event to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's track and field teams on the first day of the NCAA Mideast Regional Friday at the University of Arkansas. Nearman crossed the line in eighth place with a time of 16:46.88 to break the school record she set earlier this season by more than a full second. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's track and field teams send seven athletes to the NCAA Regionals this weekend, hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Representing the men will be senior Darren Cole in the triple jump, sophomore Quinn Mongoven in the high jump and the 4x100m relay. The relay consist of senior Lynn Koepke, junior Adam Schleis and sophomores Tyler Bucholz and Isaiah Adams. Bucholz will also compete in the 200m and Schleis in the 110m hurdles. On the women's side, senior Holly Nearman will run in the 5000m, while sophomore Laura Ring will compete in the 800m. Read Full Release |
