May 22, 2008
MILWAUKEE - Junior Ashley Hall of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's diving team was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced today. Hall recorded 13 victories and three second-place finishes in 23 diving events on the season, qualifying for NCAA Zone Diving Championships on both boards. She placed second on the one-meter board and third on the three-meter at the Horizon League Championships while winning Horizon League Diver of the Week award five times and Scholar-Athlete of the Week on three occasions this season (both were league-best totals). She was named to the Horizon Winter All-Academic Team this year and is also a Dean's List member who carries the highest cumulative GPA on the women's team at UWM. Hall, a business major with a 3.96 GPA, was one of three Horizon League student-athletes to be named to the two ESPN The Magazine at-large teams on Thursday. She is the first UWM swimmer to make the first team since Sarah Caldwell earned the honor in 2004. The academic awards may continue as all members honored as First Team Academic All-District will appear in CoSIDA's national ballot for the Academic All-America Women's At-Large Team, which will be announced in mid-June.
