April 17, 2008
MILWAUKEE - Megan Gow of St. Charles, Ill., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play tennis at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, head coach Matt McCaskill announced today. Gow is a four-time state qualifier in Illinois, having played at #1 singles and #1 doubles during her entire career at St. Charles North High School. In fact, she is the first player from the school to qualify for the state tournament in each of her four years, and the first from the school to reach state in both singles and doubles. She has enjoyed tremendous success in the Midwest Region, ranking as high as 56th. She was also a member of the Wightman Cup team in 2005, 2006 and 2007, an opportunity offered to only the top players from each district within the region. Off the court, she is an excellent student and is a member of numerous clubs and philanthropy projects. "I could not pass up on Megan. She has a lot to offer," McCaskill said. "She possesses a great game but, more importantly, she is a great person. She has a unique passion for tennis and will continue to improve throughout college. She is very coachable and has an infectious personality that will blend well with the existing team." Gow will join a young Panther squad that currently has six freshmen and sophomores.
