Drvaric Earns Second-Team All-League Nod

Freshman is first Panther to claim league honors since 2003

April 27, 2007

MILWAUKEE - University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee freshman Kelly Drvaric was named to the All-Horizon League Team Friday night during the league's annual women's tennis banquet.

Drvaric was placed on the second team, becoming the first Panther since 2003 to earn league postseason honors. In fact, she is just the seventh all-league honoree in UWM's Division I women's tennis history.

Drvaric earned the nod thanks to an 11-10 overall singles record that included eight victories at #1 singles. She also tallied three league singles wins while capturing seven overall doubles victories.

The freshman is part of a young Panther squad that has posted its best season in 10 years. The Panthers tied the school record for most wins in a single season, with their 11 wins more than the Panthers have posted in the previous five seasons combined (nine wins from 2001-02 to 2005-06).

UWM will return to the courts Saturday morning in Indianapolis, taking the fifth seed in the Horizon League Championships against fourth-seeded Cleveland State at 8 a.m. CDT.
