Felsing Named League Defensive Player Of The Week

Sept. 1, 2008

MILWAUKEE - Lauren Felsing of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has been named the Horizon League's Defensive Player of the Week.

Felsing led the league with 65 digs over the course of the opening weekend.

Her best performance came Friday night in Milwaukee's win over 18th-ranked Iowa State. She tallied a collegiate-best 29 digs as UWM held the Cyclones to a .133 hitting percentage. Felsing also had 21 digs against Ole Miss and 15 against Illinois State, making 28-straight matches where she has reached double figures in digs.

This is the second time Felsing has been honored with the league's weekly defensive award.

As a team, UWM finished the first weekend of the regular season leading the league in total digs (216) and digs per set (16.62). Last season, the Panthers finished fifth nationally in digs.

UWM returns to action this weekend at the Wingate by Wyndham Invitational, hosted by Bradley University. The Panthers open with the host Braves Friday at 9 am.
